Jerry V Howard of Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA re-emerged as a music creator in 2021 using the artist name J-Vance after a 25 year dormancy. Much had changed after 25 years.

He began recording demos of his original music early 1984 with a rigged recording setup in his bedroom. Using a Mattel Synsonics (toy) drum machine, a no name cheap bass guitar, a no name small drum kit, and a Sequential Circuits Pro One synthesizer he laid the foundation for original songs, and instrumentals. Some of the songs had guitars added which were played by friends and other acquaintences. August 1984 he moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to learn about the Recording Industry at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) with big dreams of becoming a successful recording artist, and music producer.

Jerry was active in the Middle Tennessee music scene from 1985-1995. 1986-1988 he was in three short lived bands as the lead vocalist, and a primary songwriter. The bands played live in local Murfreesboro music venues. Some recordings were done with 4-track tape recorders, and in the old Haynes House recording studio at MTSU. He moved to Nashville in 1988. After doing guitar based Alternative and Hard Rock styles with the bands in Murfreesboro he wanted to find a way to do music with synthesizers. While living in Nashville in 1989 he was still attending MTSU down the road in Murfreesboro. With access to the Haynes House studio He gathered musician friends, and former band mates to record 2 songs which were done under the artist name Talk About Nothing. The song styles were similar to the types of songs done previously with the bands in Murfreesboro, but this time synthesizers were added. Both songs gained regular airplay in Nashville on Vanderbilt's college radio station 91 Rock. Jerry returned to Murfreesboro in 1992 with the intention of launching a music project that was decidedly more synthesizer focused. He had started working with MIDI sequencing to build his songs. 4-Track tape machines, and local studios were utilized to record a few songs. The project took shape under the name 7, and one of the songs was played on Nashville's the iconic Rock radio station KDF as part of their local music show. The project was renamed 7.7, and several live performances were done in local Murfreesboro music venues. By the late 1990s, for reasons not understood then, Jerry started finding it increasingly difficult to see his music ideas developed into completed songs. The last song completed was in 1996. By 1998 he effectively gave up trying.

In 2021 after struggling with anxiety he sought out help from mental health professionals. Along the way it was discovered the anxiety was being driven by ADHD. With therapy and treatment for ADHD Jerry found himself again able to see music ideas develop into completed songs. After all those years music, the music business, and the tools to produce music had changed dramatically. He had to essentially relearn how to make music, and navigate the music business. He decided to share the progress publicly releasing his creations to the major music streaming services with the artist name J-Vance. Several singles were released 2021-2023, and the progress is evident from the first recording to the last as he learned and developed.

The choice of J-Vance as the artist name proved to be problematic both due to its close similarity to another independent recording artist; and because of it's similarity to a certain well known politician. It was becoming increasingly apparent a name change was needed. Jerry also started thinking about the numerous musical creations he made in the 1980s and 1990s. He felt that some of that should be developed with new versions, and released to the major streaming services. These ideas came together with the idea to launch his new project Pan-Pan Fell. The first Pan-Pan Fell album is a collection of 10 tracks; songs and instrumentals; that were originally created 1988-1992. The album is scheduled for release October 4, 2024.

Going forward Pan-Pan Fell is the intended new artist name for Jerry V Howard. The new project over the coming years will continue to resurrect those old songs from the 1980s and 1990s as well as continuing to create and release brand new music, and cover songs.
